While writing the first published college history in 1916, A Century of Maryville College, college president Dr. Samuel Tyndale Wilson began compiling all letters, photographs, newspaper articles, and other material relating to Maryville College alumni who became missionaries, teachers, and government officials abroad. These materials would become the basis of the September 1934 edition of the Maryville College Bulletin entitled "Our Foriegn Legion". Published the year following his retirement with the assistance of Nellie Pearl McCampbell (class of 1909), this issue chronicled the international reach of Maryville College alumni from 1873-1934.
