Historical Note
In 1898, Professor Elmer B. Waller and student assistants launched a new monthly publication titled Maryville College Monthly. In 1907, Waller relinquished control to the students who continued to run the publication until 1915 when they decided to transition to a weekly newspaper (The Highland Echo).
